DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL OPERATIONS
The Director of Clinical Operations for the Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE) is responsible for the initial orientation, training and day-to-day operations of the clinical staff. He/She will be responsible for knowing local, regional and national policies on donation in order to ensure that the clinical staff maintains clinical proficiency in organ, tissue/skin/eye evaluation in the consent process and in recovery procedures. He/She will select, schedule, and ensure that clinical programs are provided to the CORE staff on an ongoing basis. He/She will implement training processes for new procurement and recovery coordinators to ensure a well-balanced level of knowledge is being assimilated. He/She will actively participate in CORE’s recruitment and retention programs . He/She will research, formulate, organize and report on any project assigned by administration. He/She is responsible for donor evaluation and management within CORE’s service area, and in some cases, institutions throughout the Unites States and Canada. At times, he/she will be responsible for the importation and exportation of post mortem organs and tissue. He/She will develop and carry out public and professional education programs. He/She will maintain contact with the Transplant Centers. He/She will be responsible for knowing and carrying out CORE and national policies regarding organ and tissue recovery and distribution. He/She will facilitate compliance with accreditation and regulatory agencies. He/She will be responsible for follow-up to donor families, donor hospitals, physicians, healthcare professionals and any other correspondence deemed necessary
The incumbent for the position of Director of Clinical Operations for the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) should be a health care professional with a Baccalaureate degree in one of the health sciences. Critical Care experience is highly desirable. He/She should possess strong leadership skills, strong knowledge of clinical work activities and professional commitment. Five to ten years of management experience is highly desirable. He/She must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with sound judgment. He/She must possess the ability to work long, unpredictable hours. He/She must be available twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week while on the call schedule. He/She must demonstrate a commitment to CORE and to the donation process.
The Director of Clinical Operations is required to have a minimum of five to ten years of supervisory experience of professional staff. He/she is required to maintain ongoing communication with the Chief Operating Officer. He/She will supervise the Organ Procurement Coordinators, Associate Directors of Recovery Services and Donor Referral Services. He/ She will share supervisory responsibilities over the Family Support & Education Coordinators.
DONOR REFERRAL COORDINATOR
Job Responsibilities: CORE is seeking a full-time Donor Referral Coordinator. The individual is responsible for receiving and screening referrals from hospitals for potential organ, tissue and eye donors; mobilizing the recovery teams; coordinating the organ procurement for fly-outs; and placing organs at transplant hospitals. The Donor Referral Coordinator may be responsible to serve as a Tissue or Organ Coordinator.
Tissue Coordinator: Responsible for obtaining information on potential post-mortem tissue and eye donors, primarily from CORE’s region, but also throughout the United States and Canada. He/She will make necessary arrangements to begin the donation and/or recovery process. He/She is responsible for functioning as a designated requestor in CORE’s DSA and providing the option of tissue and/or eye donation to families of tissue/eye donors. He/She will be responsible for data entry and transcription. He/She will be responsible for recognizing normal and abnormal lab values. He/She will need to have sound computer knowledge and application. He/She will be responsible for knowing, and working within, CORE policies and procedures. He/She will be evaluated on performance standards and measured against monthly goal objectives.
Organ Coordinator: Responsible for obtaining information on potential post-mortem organ, tissue and eye donors, primarily from CORE’s region, but also throughout the United States and Canada. He/She will have experience with procurement pharmaceutical agents. He/She must have good understanding of patient hemodynamics and treatment modalities for hemodynamic instabilities. He/She will need to have sound computer knowledge and application. He/She will be responsible for knowing, and working within, CORE and UNOS procurement policies and procedures.
Job Qualifications: Each Donor Referral Coordinator will work four consecutive days and then be off four consecutive days. The shifts will be: (Daylight) 7 a.m. -7 p.m. and (night) 7 p.m.-7 a.m.
The Donor Referral Coordinator should have some type of medical background, with at least one year experience in a health-related field. This individual must have strong communication skills, sound judgment, excellent verbal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse public and healthcare population. He/She also must be able to manage well multiple tasks in what can be an active environment and demonstrate a professional commitment to donation and CORE’s ability to achieve its mission.

LABORATORY SUPERVISOR
Job Responsibilities: The Center for Organ Recovery & Education is seeking to hire a Laboratory Supervisor. The Supervisor must meet the High Complex Lab job qualifications set forth by CLIA, Pennsylvania Department of Health, and New York State Department of Laboratories. The Supervisor is responsible to and works under the direction of the Center’s Laboratory Director or Technical Supervisor. The Supervisor is responsible for performing laboratory testing (serology, immunology, immunohematology, microbiology, point of Care and molecular NAT testing on employees, donors and proficiency program samples as delineated in the CORE Operations Manual). The individual is responsible for providing accurate and timely laboratory testing results to end users. He/She is responsible for accurately placing kidneys on a Pulsatile Perfusion Pump both at CORE and at a local hospital, monitoring temperature and flow, and labeling/packaging kidneys for distribution. The Supervisor is responsible for the technical/quality oversight of the laboratory during their shift, and must be qualified and trained in the area(s) covered and is responsible for adhering to all local, state, federal, or voluntary organizations’ standards, all equipment operator’s manuals and test kit manufacturers package insert requirements concerning the clinical laboratory area. He/She will assist in the implementation of appropriate quality systems and will collect and maintain records of orientation and continuing education for the laboratory and perfusion employees on his/her shift and shall review and sign off on serology and microbiological donor reports prior to release externally from the lab ensuring accuracy of the information reported. The Laboratory Supervisor will assist with annual competency and performance reviews of the laboratory staff.
In addition, the Supervisor will assure adequate levels of inventory of lab supplies, reagents and kits and ensure all routine and scheduled maintenance are performed according to regulatory standards. The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for adhering to CORE’s safety standards for fire, chemical hygiene, general laboratory safety and injury prevention. He/She is responsible for participation in a work environment which is free from every form of discrimination. He/She is responsible for the promotion of a positive workplace which promotes and assures the success of the overall operations of CORE. He/She must have strong communications, interpersonal skills and be able to function independently and cover a rotating schedule when required. The Laboratory Supervisor must possess the visual acuity and motor skills necessary to process minute substances, and possess the physical ability to lift and carry supplies and reagents weighing 60 pounds or more.
Job Qualifications: To qualify for the Laboratory Supervisor, the individual must be qualified as a Medical Technologist and has had at least six years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience of which two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory having a director at the doctorate level.

Hold a Master’s of Arts or Master of Science degree with a major in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and has had at least four years of pertinent lab experience of which not less than two years under the direction of a director at the doctorate level

ORGAN PROCUREMENT COORDINATOR
Job Responsibilities: The position of Organ Procurement Coordinator is responsible for donor evaluation and management at hospitals within CORE’s service area. This individual is also the designated requestor for CORE’s DSA and is responsible for talking with families about the opportunity to donate and obtaining and/or documenting consent, and the coordination of operating room staff involved in the recoveries and for the perfusion and preservation of post-mortem organs.
The Organ Procurement Coordinator is responsible for donor evaluation and management of potential and actual donors within CORE’s service area and, in some cases, hospitals throughout the United States and Canada. The Coordinator will be responsible for the importation and exportation of post-mortem organs, and knowing and working within CORE and national policies regarding organ and tissue recovery and distribution. The individual will be responsible functioning as a designated requestor and for communicating donor case outcomes to donor families, donor hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as deemed necessary. This individual may occasionally assist the Professional Services Liaison Department in delivering educational programs for healthcare professionals and attending key physician meetings as requested.
Job Qualifications: The position of Organ Procurement Coordinator requires that someone be a registered nurse, physician’s assistant or paramedic with a four-year degree in one of the health sciences, or prior experience with an Organ Procurement Organization. Critical care experience is desirable. This individual must have strong communication, interpersonal skills and sound judgment and have the ability to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week while on the call schedule. The individual must possess the ability to lift and carry equipment weighing sixty 60 pounds or more and demonstrate a commitment to the donation process, strong professional work ethic and advanced leadership skills.

REGIONAL-ORGAN PROCUREMENT COORDINATOR – Erie Area
Job Responsibilities: The Regional OPC (Erie) is responsible for donor evaluation and management at hospitals within CORE’s service area, and for functioning as the designated requestor for CORE’s DSA and talking with families about the opportunity to donate and obtaining and/or documenting consent. He/She is responsible for coordination of operating room staff involved in the recoveries and for the perfusion and preservation of post-mortem organs and hospital development in their assigned region and is expected to attend meetings related to donor activity at their assigned hospitals.
This position is responsible for donor evaluation and management of potential and actual donors within CORE’s service area and, in some cases, hospitals throughout the United States and Canada. He/She will be responsible for the importation and exportation of post-mortem organs and knowing and working within CORE and national policies regarding organ and tissue recovery and distribution. He/She will be responsible for functioning as the designated requestor for CORE’s DSA and then communicating donor case outcomes to donor families, donor hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as deemed necessary. The Regional OPC assists in delivering educational programs for healthcare professionals and attending key physician meetings as requested.
Job Qualifications: This position requires that the individual be a registered nurse, physician’s assistant or a paramedic with a four-year degree in one of the health sciences preferred or prior experience with an Organ Procurement Organization. Critical care experience is preferred. This individual must have strong communication, interpersonal skills and sound judgment. On scheduled days of call, he/she must be available to work up to 24 hours, possess the ability to lift and carry equipment weighing at least sixty 60 pounds, and demonstrate a commitment to the donation process, strong professional work ethic and above-average leadership skills.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Job Responsibilities: The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for completing any and all administrative tasks assigned by the department director. Tasks may include typing correspondence, including but not limiting to donor letters, memos and public requests for information, recording meeting minutes, scheduling meetings, organizing travel, compiling data, creating presentations, preparing documents for meetings, filing, copying, scanning, etc. The individual may assist with incoming phone calls and direct calls to appropriate parties and to receive and distribute all incoming mail. The Assistant may be responsible for working as a “buddy” for another Administrative Assistant and assist with his/her task when they are absent.
Job Qualifications: The incumbent for the position of Administrative Assistant should have, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent. Post high school education is highly desirable. He/She must have excellent typing skills with a minimum rate of seventy (70) words per minute, and a good grasp of the English language and must have excellent grammar skills. The Administrative Assistant must have two (2) to four (4) years of clerical experience, a good working knowledge of medical terminology, and prior computer experience. This individual must have strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
