A Special Place

Transplantation would not be possible without individuals and families that first say "yes" to donation.  To recognize the amazing second chance at life provided by donors and to thank families for their generosity, CORE developed A Special Place.  It is a park-like area outside CORE's  office in Pittsburgh. On the graduated, granite walls forming A Special Place, a leaf has been engraved for every CORE donor.  The memorial area is inscribed with the words, "Let the leaves symbolize the donors. Like softly fallen petals that nourish the earth, they have touched the lives of others."

Each year, CORE holds A Special Place ceremony for the families of donors from the previous year.  It is a time to reflect on the lives our donors lived, as well as the lives our donors saved.
