CORE - Brochure - A Community For Life - page 8

A:
A single donor can help up to 150 people through the donation of organs,
tissues and corneas.
Paramedics, nurses and doctors will do EVERYTHING to save your life.
CORE is notified when all life-saving efforts have failed.
Donated organs, tissues and corneas are removed surgically in an operating
room. The procedures do not cause disfiguration of any kind and will not
interfere with the family’s wishes in terms of funeral arrangements.
Most major insurance carriers now cover heart, liver, kidney and lung
transplants. Organs are matched according to height, weight, blood type,
medical urgency, and time accrued on the waiting list.
Those who elect to become registered donors may specify what they wish
to donate by ensuring that their family is aware of their specific wishes.
