At CORE, our lives are dedicated to a journey for
excellence, providing transplant patients with a second
chance at life and our donor families with an opportunity
to honor their loved ones.
In order to achieve our goals, we’ve spent the past year
improving donation policy, procedures and practices.
Instituting the Baldrige Criteria for Performance
Excellence enables CORE to develop a framework for
our organization to plan, perform and measure the results
that quantify our accomplishments as an organization.
Our level 2 recognition by the Keystone Alliance for
Performance Excellence (KAPE) proves that our strategy
is being executed.
However, excellence requires more than metrics.
Excellence needs a face, a personality, a heart. That is why,
over the past year, CORE has also incorporated a robust list
of programs and initiatives that characterize our pursuit of
excellence in ways that numbers cannot.
Through our West Virginia and Pennsylvania Hospital
Challenges, we saw our affiliate hospitals’ staff work
tirelessly to increase public awareness and organ
donor designations.
While hosting Step Afrika!, we watched in awe as
professional step dancers commemorated the upcoming
National Donor Sabbath.
Finally, with our Special Place ceremonies, we witnessed
the greatest gift of all, honoring those who have given of
themselves to help others.
In order for CORE to continue with our journey to
excellence, we must be committed to giving transplant
patients the opportunity to lead excellent lives and
donor families the chance to heal.
As long as there are patients in need of life-saving
transplants, our journey to excellence will continue.
