Quality Initiatives –
Performance Excellence and KAPE Award
CORE was recognized by the Keystone Alliance for
Performance Excellence (KAPE) for demonstrating
Mastery and reaching the third tier toward the
organizational framework outlined by the Baldrige
Performance Excellence Program.
KAPE’s mission is to assist all types of
organizations in Pennsylvania improve
their performance and outcomes. Once an
organization achieves the highest level in the
KAPE program – tier four, Excellence – it is eligible
to pursue the national Baldrige Award.
The Baldrige program raises awareness about
the importance of performance excellence in
driving the U.S. and global economy, provides
organizational assessment tools and criteria,
and educates leaders in businesses, schools,
healthcare organizations, and government and
non-profit agencies on the practices of best-in-
class organizations.
“We will use 2016 to fine tune our processes
and gather significant results as we endeavor
to demonstrate a level of excellence when we
reapply in March of 2017,” said CORE’s Diane
Bickford, executive, organizational excellence.
“One of our LINC partners – Mid-America
Transplant Services – was the first OPO to win the
national award. We will be working with them
over the next 17 months to learn best practices.”
Baldrige Fellowship
CORE President and CEO Susan Stuart was selected in
2015 to participate in the Baldrige Executive Fellows
Program, a one-year, nationally ranked leadership
development experience.
The program prepares senior executives for impactful
leadership and helps them emerge with a broader
perspective on how to achieve performance
excellence for their own organizations, stimulate
innovation, and build the knowledge and capabilities
necessary for organizational sustainability.
Stuart will be part of a cohort of senior decision
makers who learn from each other and winners of
the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award
throughout 2016.
