CORE honored the families of all organ, tissue and cornea
donors in West Virginia who saved or enhanced the lives of
transplant recipients during the 2014 Special Place memorial
ceremony in Charleston, WV.
On October 12, 2014, guests gathered at the Clay Center for
the Arts and Sciences to hear touching stores from transplant
recipients and donor families.
Dr. Constantino Amores, a physician from Charleston Area
Medical Center, shared the story of his grandson, Trey, who was
a donor and saved the lives of many. Trey’s kidney recipient
joined the Constantino family at the ceremony.
The ceremony also included musical performances by a
soloist, harpist and bagpipe player, as well as CORE’s
first-ever butterfly release.

a member of each donor family to signify the lives that are intertwined
by donation.
