VISIT TO THE
CAPITOL
TO SUPPORT SENATE BILL 850
In October 2014, CORE volunteers and staff, along with Gift of Life
Donor Program volunteers and staff, rallied in support of Senate Bill
850, the Donate Life PA Act, at the capitol rotunda in Harrisburg, PA.
The state house of representatives had yet to consider the bill, even
after it passed through the senate in an overwhelming bipartisan
vote in favor of the bill, 47-3.
During the trip to the capitol, volunteers and staff of both state
organ procurement organizations visited the offices of all state
representatives, passing out literature to encourage consideration of
the bill. The attendees were well received by all representatives and
truly made an impact.
Following the office visits, a rally was held in the capitol rotunda
and volunteers and staff from both OPOs spoke in favor of the
legislation. The group made significant progress and their presence
at the capitol played a huge role in house leadership’s decision to
meet with them to discuss the bill’s importance. Although the bill
has yet to be passed, house leadership is now committed to
considering the bill in 2015.
